Lunch with Students
Centennial is now able to accommodate guests having lunch with students on special occasions. Please keep in mind the following:
- Please call the office by 8:30 if you plan on having lunch with a student. We need to report an accurate lunch count to our kitchen to ensure they have enough meals prepared.
- The cost of the adult lunch is $4.00. You will need to pay in the office using exact change. We do not have cash in the office to give back any change. We are no longer allowed to use a student's meal account to pay for an adult.
- We ask that you do not bring in fast food to have lunch with your child. District policy states "Meals and drinks from competitive, commercial eating establishments will not be allowed in school cafeterias for consumption or sale."

FREE AND REDUCED MEALS
School meals are no longer free for all students. The waivers that provided free meals to all students have expired and Congress did not give USDA the authority to provide meals to all students at no cost. Families can apply for free and reduced-price meals at https://frapps.horizonsolana.com/BISP01. These applications greatly assist the district in receiving other federal funding, including Title I funding. Please click on the above link for more information regarding free and reduced meals.

Safety
Safety and accountability of students is always a priority for a school. Along with this comes procedures that are put in place to assure that students are safe and are always getting the most out of instruction as possible. Centennial’s procedure for student pick-up for appointments is that a parent needs to come to the office to check out a student. Secretaries will use the buzzer system in our entryway to communicate with you. You will then enter the office to check out your child on the computer in the office. They will not call for students to be dismissed from class until parents arrive, because as we all know sometimes it is difficult to adhere to a tight time schedule which results in students sitting in the office for an extra 30 minutes. When students return from an appointment, parents must walk students into the building so they can be checked back into the office, and parents can hand in the note from the appointment. Remember it is important to hand in notes from doctors, counselors, etc. so appointments are marked as medical in PowerSchool. Parents must walk students into the school office who are tardy as well.
Along the lines of safety is also Bismarck Public School’s protocol of having all the doors locked so everyone must enter Centennial through the front doors, then through the office door by using a buzzer. Once the buzzer is heard, a secretary will address you. If a secretary is busy, a person may have to wait a few seconds before being attended to. Thanks for understanding if you are the one that has to wait.
