What is MTTS?
Defining MTSS
- MTSS is a Multi-Tiered System of Supports which provides instruction and support to promote the academic and behavioral success of each student.
- Part of this process involves identifying students’ needs and providing them with appropriate academic and behavioral intervention and support.
The CHS MTSS mission
WE hold high expectations for academic achievement and behavior for each student. We provide support to help students persevere, actively learn, build healthy relationships, and make positive choices.
What does the MTSS process look like?
The MTSS process consists of three tiers; each tier provides varying levels of support.

Tier 1 for All Students
All students have access to these supports.

Academics
- In Tier I, all students receive high quality curriculum and instruction in the general education classroom.

Behavior
- In Tier I, all students are explicitly taught positive behavioral expectations. All teachers use a consistent approach to discipline.

Tier 2 for Some Students
These supports are provided to some students (15-20%) depending on need.

These supports are provided to a few students (<5%) based on their intensive needs.
